An apple a day keeps the doctor away – even if you drink it! Of course, I’ve already exposed The Truth About Detox Water but the fact still stands that this is a healthy, wholesome, delicious drink to enjoy whether you’re out and about or staying close to home.
This apple water recipe has had almost as much exposure as The Classic Lemon Cucumber ‘detox’ drink, appearing and being promoted on shows like Dr. Oz. By golly guys, we’ve got a star on our hands!
While the detox qualities remain debatable, there’s one thing for sure: Reach for this instead of pop or juice and you’re well on your way to a happier, healthier life!
So let’s turn on “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson and let’s get into it!
Serves: 8 Prep: 3 minutes Total Time: 4 hours
- 8 cups of filtered water
- 1 apple, thinly sliced
- 1 pear, thinly sliced (optional)*
- 1-2 cinnamon sticks
Note: Any apple can be used for this recipe, so use your favorite! To name a few Fuji, Golden Delicious, Honey Crisp, and Pink lady are just a few of the sweeter apple varieties.
* I used pears, just because I like pears. As with any infused water, you can throw in or omit any ingredient your little heart desires!
Wash the apple and pear, then slice thinly removing the seeds. Fill a pitcher with the water, apple, pear, and put in 1-2 cinnamon sticks depending on how ‘cinnamony’ you want your water. Place in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (better if it’s overnight!) to give the fruit and cinnamon time to infuse. This mixture will last two to three days.
Note: Powdered cinnamon is not recommended as it tends to ‘clog up’ the water.
Pour yourself a tall glass and enjoy!
Ta-Da! There’s really nothing to this delicous apple infused water recipe -so go on, drink up and enjoy!
Health & Happiness,
